IRIS 500

The IRIS 500 is a sophisticated flame monitoring system having a variety of applications, but is particularly successful in the more difficult situations, where discrimination proves to be a problem.  The flame amplifier comprises a mother board, an analogue signal processor board and a digital signal processor.  Three viewing heads are available.  The UV head, in which self checking is accomplished by a mechanical shutter, this is suitable for use on gas and light oil flames.  Its spectral response is 185 to 300nm.  In the IR and IRX2 viewing heads, the self checking is achieved by using an electronic switch – hence there are no moving parts. IRIS UNISCAN

The Uniscan is a fail safe – self check flame monitor and amplifer mounted in one enclosure, suitable for gas or oil, pilot or main flame monitoring.  The techniques used for discrimination and fail safety are unique and are covered by UK and US patent.  The IRIS Uniscan flame monitor has been developed to satisfy the process heater and smaller utilities market, where the sophisticated discrimination techniques are not required. IRIS 600

The IRIS 600 flame ionisation relay is used in conjunction with a flame rod to detect the presence of a flame.  It incorporates the following features:

  • Ten segment bargraph display to indicate flame signal strength.  The flame relay will energise when the fourth segment illuminates.
  • Plug-in, for ease of maintenance
  • Voltage selector switch 110/230 VAC.  This is accessible by removing the relay from its base.
  • Power On indication

THE US RANGE

The US product range include both Ultraviolet and Infrared Viewing Heads, single, dual and three channel Signal Processors and Flare Stack Monitors.

These Flame Monitoring Systems, consisting of a Viewing Head, or Flame Scanner, and a Signal Processor.  These Flame Monitors or Scanners are used in the Petro-chemical, Pulp and Paper, Power Generation industries, as well as applications where the detection monitoring and control of furnaces and boilers are required.

Also available are Infrared Non-contact Temperature Measurement Pyrometers designed for use in the sulphur recovery process and other applications requiring remote non-contact temperature measurement. IRIS US Range more>>

Fail Safe Monitoring Patent Info - United State Patent 4540886 - UK Patent 2131585

A fail-safe system for monitoring a condition and activating controls in response either to the non-existence of that condition or the failure of any component in the system, in which a preliminary fail-safe oscillation train derived from sensing the condition is converted into a steady state indication of that condition, and a secondary fail-safe oscillation train is generated in a fail-safe way from said steady state indication for further transmission downstream for control purposes.  In the context of flame monitoring, means associated with the preliminary oscillation train are provided for discriminating between separate frames and for time delay purposes.
